Dragon Age: The Veilguard Surprises Fans with Free Weapon DLC After Months

Author : Stella Apr 26,2025

BioWare has largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but that hasn't stopped the remaining team from surprising fans with a small DLC weapons pack. Dragon Age enthusiasts were taken aback when the game's Steam page was updated to include the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, a free add-on released just yesterday. While EA had previously indicated that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would receive minimal future support, this unexpected content feels like a small miracle, especially following the fifth patch in January, which promised to focus on fixing game-breaking bugs.

The Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer is currently exclusive to PC players who own the game or purchase it before April 8, 2025. Although the bundle's contents aren't explicitly detailed, players have discovered it includes a set of Watchful skins accessible in their Rook’s in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S users.

Feedback from the community has been mixed but generally positive. A Steam review noted, "Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!" Meanwhile, a Redditor commented, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received positive reviews upon its October launch but according to EA, it didn't "resonate with a broad enough audience." Consequently, key team members left BioWare in late January, with much of the staff either laid off or reassigned to other projects within the company. EA confirmed to IGN that the studio is now fully focused on the next installment of the Mass Effect series.

Despite its challenges, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was added to the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles just four months after its release, with no further plans for its future announced.
