DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter

A dedicated DOOM enthusiast, NyanSatan, has achieved the remarkable feat of running the classic DOOM game on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, as the creator explains, utilizes iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game, leveraging a MacBook for firmware transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.

Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration reveals increased accessibility features. DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players to adjust demon aggression in the game settings. This focus on accessibility is a core design principle, according to executive producer Marty Stratton. The game will boast extensive customization options, surpassing those found in previous id Software titles. Players will have granular control over enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage taken, game tempo, aggression levels, and even parry timing.

Stratton further clarified that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal.
