Discover the Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer

Author : Hunter May 02,2025

As you approach the maximum level in *Rune Slayer*, tackling the Hill Troll becomes a highly rewarding endeavor, offering not only a significant source of XP but also a chance to gather early endgame loot. However, locating this formidable giant can be a challenge. This guide will provide you with **a detailed walkthrough on how to find and conquer the Hill Troll in *Rune Slayer***.

Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer

**The Hill Troll is concealed within a cave nestled on the mountain's flank in Bahlgar.** There are multiple paths to reach this location, but the most straightforward route starts from the elevator in Lakeshire. Head down to Bahlgar as you would for battling Beastmen. Instead of engaging the Beastmen, keep close to the mountain's wall and continue around it. Pass **two platinum deposits** and look to **one of the mountain's sides** for the cave entrance. To access it, jump into the opening, ideally on **a mount**. While this might seem tricky at first, once you've navigated it once, revisiting the cave will become second nature. Our accompanying gif illustrates the route, showcasing a group of players in action against the Troll, which we joined to assist.

Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest

Despite its menacing appearance, the Hill Troll is **one of the more manageable mini-bosses** in *Rune Slayer*. You'll likely face it multiple times, becoming familiar with its attack patterns.

**Avoid tackling the Hill Troll solo**. Although its attacks are predictable and can be dodged, teaming up with at least one other player is advisable. Fortunately, many players are keen on farming the Troll, so finding a group shouldn't be difficult. After defeating the Troll, it respawns in just **90 seconds**, allowing for continuous farming.

The Troll wields a giant pillar, executing **slow but powerful attacks**. You can parry and block most of these, except when it raises the pillar with both hands overhead; at this point, you should flee to avoid being stunned. Staggering the Troll is possible with sufficient damage, and if you're playing the Warrior **Class**, a well-timed Counter can stun it effectively.

While the Hill Troll occasionally drops rare equipment, focus on farming **Troll Hides and Troll Heads**. Troll Hides are essential for **crafting decent endgame gear**, which, while not the best, will prepare you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.

**The Troll Head is a key item for the repeatable Hodor Quest**. Located near the cave, Hodor accepts a Troll Head every hour, offering a chance at random, potentially overpowered loot. Engaging in this quest while farming the Troll maximizes your rewards.

Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?

**No, taming the Hill Troll is not possible** in *Rune Slayer*, even for Beast Tamer Archers. As a mini-boss, it's too large and unwieldy to serve as a pet. Furthermore, its size might prevent it from leaving its cave. Stick to taming smaller creatures like the Mud Crab if you're a Beast Tamer Archer.
