A new Digimon video game, tentatively titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly leaked through GameStop, just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. The leak was first spotted by Gematsu, which shared store links for pre-orders on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the GameStop listings lack any images or gameplay details, this mysterious project may soon be officially unveiled.
The leak's timing is particularly notable as it occurs mere hours before Sony's latest State of Play presentation, which is set to feature 40 minutes of content. Given the substantial duration of the event and the recent appearance of pre-order listings, it's plausible that Digimon Story: Time Stranger could make an appearance.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history, beginning with the original Digimon Story on the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Over the years, the franchise has expanded across various platforms, with notable recent entries including Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017. A Complete Edition combining both Cyber Sleuth titles was released in 2019.
In these games, players are typically immersed in the world of Digimon, where they can befriend and battle with digital monsters in RPG-style gameplay. While franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Digimon Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh installment. Although Digimon Survive provided some entertainment in the interim, the anticipation for a true sequel like Digimon Story: Time Stranger remains high. If officially announced soon, it could mark the end of a long wait for fans of the series.
