Introducing the Secret "SPECIAL ROOM" on Switch 2
During the April 2 Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, it was officially confirmed that Deltarune will release on the new console, featuring both Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 at launch. This next-gen version will include special enhancements only available on Switch 2.
As revealed in a Fangamer newsletter by Deltarune creator Toby Fox, the Switch 2 edition will feature a unique hidden area known as the "SPECIAL ROOM." This bonus content leverages the enhanced capabilities of the new Joy-Cons, specifically their mouse-like control functionality. Fox shared, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
While the SPECIAL ROOM will also be accessible on non-Switch 2 platforms, it will utilize a different control scheme to accommodate standard input methods. Additionally, players who have completed the Nintendo Switch demos of Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 can transfer their save data to the full Switch 2 version seamlessly.
Future Chapters Will Be Free for All Owners
In the same newsletter, Toby Fox confirmed the official price of Deltarune: $24.99. This one-time purchase includes access to Chapters 1 through 4, with Chapters 1 and 2 having originally launched in 2018 and 2021 respectively—both initially released for free.
While it was previously announced that Chapters 3 to 5 would be paid content, Fox has now confirmed a change in direction: all future chapters will be delivered as free updates to players who purchase the base game. He added, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The Deltarune original soundtrack will also be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 tracks from Chapters 3 and 4 alone. Music from future chapters will be added to the soundtrack at no extra cost, ensuring long-term value for fans.
Deltarune Chapters 1–4 will launch globally on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates—[ttpp]
