Hideo Kojima unveiled an exciting new trailer for "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" at SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX, alongside announcing the game's release date.

"Death Stranding 2" is set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Fans who opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will enjoy early access starting from June 24.

The trailer, which spans 10 minutes, is packed with cinematic sequences, gameplay snippets, and introduces a character named Neil, played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli. Neil, who strikingly resembles Solid Snake from Kojima's renowned Metal Gear series, is seen donning a bandana and leading a group of eerie soldiers. This nod to Metal Gear is further emphasized with the introduction of the Magellan Man, a massive tar-like creature reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex. The Magellan Man, part of the Collector's Edition as a 15" statue, operates similarly to a Pacific Rim mech and battles against giant, unsettling tar monsters.

"Death Stranding 2" continues the narrative from the 2019 original, tagged with the thought-provoking question, 'Should We Have Connected?' The official synopsis states:

Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam — with companions by his side — sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles, and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again.
