Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Gameplay Revealed at Summer Game Fest

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives later this month, but for eager fans who cannot wait, Hideo Kojima presented a fresh look during today's Summer Game Fest.

The footage introduces two new characters: Lucy (portrayed by Alissa Jung) and Neil (Luca Marinelli). Neil works as a porter, much like our protagonist Sam Porter Bridges. A shared mark on their hands triggers a charged emotional exchange, with Neil appearing to remember Lucy from a past encounter, while Lucy becomes visibly distressed. Kojima indicated that Neil's narrative role and emotional weight will be comparable to that of Mads Mikkelsen's character in the previous game.

Death Stranding 2 continues Hideo Kojima's open-world delivery odyssey, catching up with Fragile and Sam Bridges years after the original story.

Back in September, Kojima Productions released several gameplay snippets for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, highlighting its bizarre photo mode, dancing puppet-men, a role performed by Mad Max director George Miller, and other signature Kojima eccentricities.

Additional previews featured a shirtless Norman Reedus emerging from dark sludge to encounter a man named Tarman (played by Miller) and his airborne feline companion, alongside a sinister talking puppet. The cast also includes Tomorrow (Elle Fanning) and Rainy (Shioli Kutsuna). The game launches on June 26, 2025, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
