A Hollywood adaptation of the original 2007 Kane & Lynch game - developed by Hitman creators IO Interactive - lingered in development limbo for years with various A-list actors being considered.

Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto recently revealed on social media that he crafted a treatment featuring Stranger Things' David Harbour (known for playing Jim Hopper and Red Guardian in Marvel's Thunderbolts*/New Avengers) alongside James Badge Dale.

"Several years ago when this property still had heat, I wrote a brief treatment imagining those two actors," Tjahjanto shared. "Sadly, it never progressed beyond that stage."

Tjahjanto's treatment joins numerous other abandoned concepts for the long-gestating game adaptation.

The project originally courted Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx for the lead roles before creative differences and endless script rewrites derailed those plans.

A subsequent iteration reportedly targeted Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel as the titular duo, but this version similarly failed to materialize.

Following the lukewarm reception of 2010's Kane & Lynch: Dog Days sequel, IO Interactive ultimately shifted focus entirely to their successful Hitman franchise, leaving these cinematic ambitions unfulfilled.
