Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide
Before embarking on the "Under the Straw Hat" quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you must first complete "In Vino Veritas," a side quest initiated in Kuttenberg. Reaching Kuttenberg unlocks inter-region travel.
"In Vino Veritas" begins by speaking with Casper Rudolf, a wine merchant offering free samples on Kuttenberg's west side. He requires information to enhance his wine. You can either directly question Havel (requiring fine attire and cleanliness) or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and glean the necessary wine knowledge. To successfully interrogate Havel, select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as your dialogue choices. Report your findings back to Casper.
Accessing the Vineyard
Casper's next request involves infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate a specific incense. Avoid trespassing by using the main road; speak to the recruiter there to officially begin the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Proceed to find Jerome, who will explain vineyard labor.
Working at the Vineyard and Obtaining the Incense
Work begins the following day. You can either diligently perform assigned tasks (moving sacks, harvesting thistle) to earn wages or directly acquire the incense. The incense is located in the cellar of the main building. Access requires either lockpicking skills or stealing Jerome's keys. Retrieve the Sulphur Wicks from the cellar chest to complete the primary objective. Optionally, gather five seedlings for an increased reward. Remember, entering restricted areas without permission will result in punishment.
Upon completion, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks (and optionally, the seedlings) to finish both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." This opens the path to further quests, such as "Master Schindel's Toys."
