Serial Cleaner, the quirky crime-scene cleanup puzzler, is making a comeback! Originally released in 2019, this title is returning, but the extent of its improvements remains to be seen. Will it be a polished re-release or simply a modernized port?
The game throws you into the gritty, yet humorous, 1970s. Think urban decay, stylish street gangs, and cinematic absurdity (killer sharks, anyone?). You play as Bob Leaner, a professional crime-scene cleaner tasked with the messy job of disposing of bodies, cleaning up blood, and erasing all evidence of mob violence – all while dodging the police.
Our previous review in 2019 (by Harry Slater) described the original as "half-baked but with potential." Developer Plug-In Digital is now self-publishing this mobile version, suggesting a chance for improvement.
A Funky Return?
Available for pre-registration now, with a February 11th, 2025 release date, the extent of the changes remains unclear. While significant improvements would be welcome, given the time elapsed since the original launch, substantial enhancements might be unrealistic.
The core concept remains intriguing, but a simple mobile re-release dampens some of the excitement. However, for Android users who missed out or those experiencing compatibility issues with older iOS versions, this could be a welcome surprise.
