Hogwarts Castle: The Main Tower
$259.99 at Amazon | $259.99 at LEGO Store
The recently released Main Tower serves as the second major installment in LEGO's interconnected Hogwarts Castle system. This ambitious project connects with previously released standalone sets including Potions Class (Set #76431), Owlery (Set #76430), Flying Lessons (Set #76447), and Boathouse (Set #76426).
While designed as part of a larger castle system, the Main Tower also functions beautifully as a standalone playset - particularly appealing for fans of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Mirroring the Great Hall set's design, the Main Tower features an open-back structure revealing detailed interior dioramas of key film moments. The build begins with underground chambers leading to the Sorcerer's Stone, including progressively constructed Devil's Snare, Flying Keys, and giant Chess Set rooms.
Each chamber incorporates interactive elements: a hidden switch controls the Devil's Snare, the Flying Keys rotate on a pedestal, and chess pieces remain fully movable. The set includes essential minifigures of Harry, Hermione, and Ron - crucial for recreating iconic scenes. Nine additional characters round out the 12-figure collection, from Neville Longbottom to Nearly Headless Nick.

The construction progresses upward through Fluffy's chamber (complete with functioning trapdoor and cleverly designed harp), then to Gryffindor's cozy common room with signature color scheme and carefully designed sunken living area.
Modular construction allows for collaborative building - different sections feature separate instruction booklets, enabling multiple builders to work simultaneously. The 10+ age rating makes this impressive 2,135-piece set more accessible than typical large-scale LEGO projects, successfully balancing display potential with playability.

The tower's upper levels showcase Hogwarts' enchanted architecture: rotating staircases, Dumbledore's gargoyle-guarded office (packed with magical artifacts and portrait details), and finally the Mirror of Erised with interchangeable images. Completing the 2-foot-tall structure is an elegant spire housing the magical mirror.
When combined with the Great Hall set, the Main Tower demonstrates LEGO's impressive commitment to cohesive castle design. Unlike previous Hogwarts sets that required fan interpretation for proper assembly, this new modular system clearly follows a master plan - suggesting LEGO designers are building toward a definitive, complete Hogwarts Castle expression.

While completion may take years, the Main Tower proves LEGO's Hogwarts project shows exceptional promise. With continued attention to detail, this could become the ultimate LEGO Wizarding World achievement.
