Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, much to the disappointment of fans who wish for its extension. However, community manager pezradar has clarified that extending the event is currently not feasible due to technical constraints. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.

In addition to the event's end, the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 has affected fans' weekend plans. Pezradar apologized for the inconvenience, stating, "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January." The extra time will be used to implement and test new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. Pezradar also acknowledged the need for improved communication with players in the future.

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has introduced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing begins on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a blend of the tension and risk-reward found in extraction shooters with the battle dynamics of combat RPGs. "Diablo and Escape from Tarkov seem to have a parenthood. We are eager to hear from the players," Cirkulete said. In Project Pantheon, players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, working to restore order in a devastated world.
