Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared a moving message following a near-fatal incident. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room.
A GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised an astounding $174,653 for his medical expenses and outstanding bills, features a video message from Johnson himself. He reveals he was in a coma.
"I've discovered an overwhelming amount of love in this world, far more than I ever realized," Johnson stated in the video. "I'm deeply grateful to each and every one of you."
The incident occurred while Johnson was in Atlanta for a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit event. After arriving and checking into his hotel, his absence from the event triggered concern. His wife, Kim Johnson, contacted the hotel, leading to security personnel and EMTs gaining entry to his room. They found him with a barely detectable pulse.
"The rumors of my demise were slightly exaggerated," Johnson joked. "It was extremely close, but I'm still here." He credits his wife's quick thinking and the actions of his son, who contacted hotel security, with saving his life. He spent five days in a medically induced coma.
Johnson expressed gratitude to the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, to Ted Leonsis (chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company) for a significant $25,000 donation, and to friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker for organizing the GoFundMe. He also extended heartfelt thanks to Bethesda, who publicly voiced their support, and to his fans for their outpouring of love and financial contributions.
"I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," Johnson affirmed. "Recovery will take time, but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and hearing from you all soon."
Johnson's extensive voice acting career includes a wide range of film and television roles, but he's particularly known for his work with Bethesda. His recent roles include Ron Hope in Starfield, along with memorable performances as Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in Oblivion, multiple Daedric Princes in Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among many others.
