Battlefield 6 Cuts MCOM Timers by 33% for Rush Mode

Battlefield 6 publisher EA is making adjustments to Rush mode to better balance gameplay between attackers and defenders.

These changes come just as players dive into Battlefield 6's second Open Beta Weekend, running from August 15th through Sunday, August 17th. The All-Out Warfare playlist features Breakthrough, Conquest, and Rush—with the latter drawing some criticism.

For those unfamiliar with Rush, players must destroy military communications equipment known as MCOMs, either through heavy explosives or by planting bombs. The bomb-planting method, however, has created issues: with a long 45-second timer between placement and detonation, one side gained an unfair advantage.

Developer DICE has already responded. In a social media update, the team announced, "We've just tweaked Rush mode: the MCOM timer is now reduced from 45 to 30 seconds to improve balance between attackers and defenders."

The developers stated they will "continue monitoring and are prepared to make further balance changes," which is crucial because the timer isn't the only concern. Players have also pointed out problematic spacing between MCOM objectives and spawn points, leading to frustrating spawn traps on maps like Iberian, Empire, and Siege of Cairo.

"I believe the Rush mode should be temporarily removed from Battlefield 6 until it's properly fixed," commented one frustrated player. "Every map has major balance issues, extremely tight spaces between sectors/MCOM locations, and even 12v12 matches feel chaotic. It's disappointing—Rush used to be fantastic." This post has already garnered over 3,000 likes.

Earlier this week, EA released a statement recognizing the cheating issues in Battlefield 6 and detailing its ongoing efforts to address them, alongside requiring players to enable Secure Boot in their BIOS. The publisher noted that its existing security systems have already blocked 330,000 cheating attempts or anti-cheat tampering. On top of that, players reported 44,000 cheating incidents on launch day and another 60,000 since. EA is committed to evolving its anti-cheat tools and urges users to keep reporting problems.
