The stress test for the eighth, and possibly the final major patch of Baldur's Gate III, has now commenced. Some Sony console players had the opportunity to access the patch early, but for those not keen on participating in the test, the developers suggest reinstalling the game to avoid any potential issues.

Patch 8 introduces several exciting features, with crossplay being a standout addition. This update allows players across different platforms, including consoles and PC, to enjoy the game together. To facilitate this, players need only to link their Larian account, making it easy to invite friends regardless of their gaming platform. Even more intriguing is the support for modded gameplay in cross-platform sessions, provided that all mods used by the PC player are compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host’s lobby does not exceed a double-digit number of installed mods.

In terms of multiplayer enhancements, a highly anticipated feature is now under testing: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This feature was previously unavailable on the less powerful console, and its inclusion is a welcome update for Xbox Series S users.

Other notable additions in Patch 8 include a comprehensive photo mode with a plethora of customization options, and 12 new subclasses that add further depth and variety to the gameplay experience. Larian Studios has also worked on addressing bugs and rebalancing elements of the game, although some issues persist. A detailed list of all changes implemented in the stress test can be found on the game’s official page.
