The lead developer of Assassin's Creed Shadows has reassured fans that choosing to focus on a single protagonist won't result in missing out on significant content. In the game, players can choose between two protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, a historical African samurai whose inclusion has already sparked much discussion.

Some fans worried that favoring one character might mean missing crucial story elements or gameplay experiences. Jonathan Dumont, the creative director, addressed these concerns by sharing his balanced approach to playing the game:

"I tend to switch between characters fairly evenly. For example, I might spend 3-5 hours with one protagonist, then switch and play another 2-3 hours with the second."

However, Dumont emphasized that players won't be at a major disadvantage if they prefer one character over the other. He explained that while each protagonist has unique opening sequences and personal story arcs, the game is designed to adapt to the player's choice. He encouraged players to follow their preferences:

"I don’t believe you’ll miss out on a lot. It really comes down to your personal playstyle. You might think, 'Alright, I’ll see how the game adjusts based on which character I pick.' Each hero has their own unique introductions and dedicated questlines, but the core experience is flexible. You can choose your favorite, and the narrative will adapt accordingly."
