Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, launching this March, has added a prominent voice to its cast. Mackenyu Arata, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece, will voice a key character.
Assassin's Creed Shadows: A New Recruit
Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo
Mackenyu will provide both the Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo, a pivotal character within Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a complex individual: a charming rogue with a hidden moral compass.
"A charismatic, impulsive figure burdened by guilt, Gennojo seeks to dismantle a corrupt system," Ubisoft states in a press release. "He's a cunning trickster, blending wit, deception, and confidence. His strong sense of justice fuels his mission, even at great personal risk. He's particularly dedicated to aiding the vulnerable."
While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance remains undisclosed, his significance to the game's storyline is confirmed. Mackenyu himself reveals Gennojo's affiliation with the "Shinobi League," adding that players can effectively recruit him as a companion throughout their adventure.
