ARC Raiders’ Headwinds Brings New Subtle Features

Matchmaking System, Map Changes, and More in January

Arc Raiders’ Embark Studios has rolled out the Headwinds content update. Released on January 27, this patch introduces features tailored for seasoned players alongside a fresh environmental condition for one of the game’s maps.

A highly anticipated addition is the "Solo vs. Squads" matchmaking option, available at level 40. As implied by its name, this feature allows solo Raiders to join squad-based lobbies. Players who take on these challenging matches are rewarded with significantly boosted XP.

Headwinds also introduces "Bird City," a new map condition in the Buried City zone. Rooftops and chimneys now attract flocks of birds that highlight concentrated loot areas, naturally funneling players into tighter spaces where ambushes become more likely.

Sandwalker SetAnother key feature in this update is the "Trophy Display: Project," which encourages long-term PvE progression by challenging players to hunt specific ARC enemies for trophies and prizes. Completing these objectives unlocks additional rewards that developers consider "valuable items."

Alongside these new additions, the patch includes the "Sandwalker Set" cosmetic skin, extra quests, and various quality-of-life improvements, fulfilling promises made in their 2026 roadmap progress.

Raiders Still Want a Larger Update

Player in RoomCommunity reactions to the update’s announcement have been mixed but engaged. Fans appreciated the new features and January changes, though some expressed mild disappointment as minor content additions took center stage. Reddit discussions highlight the absence of new weapon types, enemies, or large-scale content, with players hoping future updates will bring more substantial changes.

However, based on ARC Raiders’ 2026 roadmap, each month promises its own share of updates and surprises. One major addition to look forward to is a new map in April for the Riven Tides content, potentially featuring a seafaring environment or water-based ARC enemies.

ARC Raiders is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Embark Studios continuing to refine its longevity for players. For more information on this extraction shooter game, read our article below!
