The Absolute Universe initiative from DC Comics continues gaining momentum, offering renowned creators creative freedom to reimagine iconic characters without continuity constraints. In Absolute Batman, Scott Snyder presents an alternate take on Bruce Wayne - envisioning him without billionaire resources or high-tech weaponry.

The series' first arc becomes available for purchase on August 5, while issue #9 featuring a fresh interpretation of Bane hits shelves now. This version retains Bane's signature luchador physique and Venom enhancements while introducing new motivations and surprising ties to Alfred Pennyworth.

During an exclusive interview with IGN, Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta discussed their approach: "Bane maintains his imposing physicality - we specifically wanted him to tower over Bruce," Snyder revealed. The issue also debuts alternate versions of Dick Grayson and Deathstroke within this universe.
