According to Urquhart, development on the highly anticipated sequel to *The Outer Worlds* is progressing well. While the studio's primary focus remains on *Avowed*, he emphasized the strong performance of the *Outer Worlds 2* team, praising their experience and dedication. He stated, "I’m impressed with the team... We have a lot of people on that game that get it—who have worked on the first one and have been with us for a long time."Urquhart candidly discussed the difficulties faced by Obsidian, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and the period following their acquisition by Microsoft. Simultaneous development of multiple titles, including Grounded and Pentiment, significantly taxed their resources. He acknowledged a challenging period, stating, "We were kind of a crappy developer for about a year, year and a half." There were even internal discussions about halting The Outer Worlds 2 development to focus solely on Avowed, but the studio ultimately decided to maintain their commitment to all projects.
